The ICE had come from Frankfurt am Main on Tuesday afternoon. When all passengers had alighted, the train was driven to a workshop for cleaning and technical checks.

During the inspection, railway employees discovered a prepared plug in a socket located between two seats. “The ends of the plug were cut off and processed in such a way that serious injuries would have occurred if touched,” said Federal Police spokeswoman Constanze Strohm.

A measurement showed that there was actually 230 volts on the outside of the plug, which could have led to a fatal electric shock if pulled out with bare hands.

After examining the prepared connector, the police assume it acted willfully. Means: Here someone deliberately wanted to injure or even kill a person.

According to spokeswoman Strohm, it is still unclear when the plug was placed there and how long it has been on the ICE.

The federal police issued a Germany-wide warning not to touch plugs and cables that were supposed to be forgotten in train sockets and to inform the police immediately!
