Deadly Confrontation on Manhattan Block leaves one Driver Dead

A confrontation between drivers on a Manhattan block turned deadly after one driver allegedly responded to a flat tire by knocking over the other man.

Police say the deadly altercation began when drivers of a Jetta sedan and a pickup truck collided in East 60th Street in it Upper East Side.

A heated argument broke out between the two male drivers, prompting the 54-year-old man behind the wheel of the truck to get out and pull out a knife. He used the knife to cut two of the Jetta’s tires, police say.

The second driver, 28, allegedly responded by hitting the gas pedal and running the knife over the man. The 54-year-old truck driver was rushed to a hospital, but did not survive his injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Jetta remained at the scene and was taken into custody by police. Authorities said a woman and child inside their car at the time of the deadly collision were also taken to a hospital for evaluation.
