Life on the edge of the mountains

Nels (Liam Neeson) lives with his wife (Laura Dern) in a small mountain cottage on the outskirts. He had just been named “Citizen of the Year” for his hard work as a snowplow operator. He is responsible for the passability of roads leading to a popular tourist resort in the Rocky Mountains, where life flows to the rhythm determined by snowfall.

However, Nels’ peaceful existence is disturbed by the unexpected death of his son (Michael Neeson), who dies of a heroin overdose. The family is experiencing trauma. He himself has suicidal thoughts, no longer seeing the meaning of life. When he learns that drug dealers from Denver are responsible for his son’s death, he decides that justice must be served. He takes revenge on subsequent members of the drug cartel. Revenge is a dish best served cold!

Additional dimensions

The film “Citizen Examples” is an American adaptation of the Norwegian hit “In Order of Disappearance”. Director Hans Petter Moland returned to this story to bring his vision to life in the United States. The inimitable Liam Neeson approached the main role in a very emotional way, which gave his character depth and authenticity. Interestingly, Michael Neeson, the actor’s son, also took part in the production, which gave the film an additional, personal dimension.

A wealth of backgrounds

Work on the film took place in the picturesque outdoors of Colorado, which was not only a background, but also a key element of the narrative.

The music was composed by the one-of-a-kind composer Dustin O’Halloran, known for his very emotional soundtracks, which perfectly suited this production. His songs perfectly reflect the atmosphere of both dramatic and action-packed moments in the film. O’Halloran was inspired by both local sounds and classical compositions.

Additionally, the production involved not only professional actors, but also local residents who played supporting roles, which introduced authenticity and local color.
