After months of speculation and leaked footage, it’s finally official: Deadlock, Valve’s new multiplayer third-person shooter, has been announced. The game has its page on Steamwhere only a minimum of information is found so far. What we know so far is that Deadlock is in the development stage, with gameplay not in its final state and localization into various languages, including Czech, still in process.
Team shooter
Deadlock brings dynamic six-on-six battles, where each of the twenty heroes has their own unique abilities and playstyle. Players must focus on their hero’s strengths to gain an advantage in battle. Among the revealed characters are the guileless Ivy, the gentleman demon Infernus, the insidious agent Haze, Lady Geist and the pale sniper Vindicta. Some of these characters are suitable for new players, which combined with the training modes makes Deadlock accessible even for those who are not very experienced in MOBA games.
Early access
Valve advises that the game is currently only accessible to select players who have the option invite to play another interested party. According to available information, over 44,000 players have signed up for the game in the last five days, which indicates a significant interest from the community. In the last 24 hours there were over 23 thousand players. These numbers confirm that there is considerable interest in Deadlock, even though the game is still in development and its details are closely guarded.
Inspired by TF2
Deadlock has been in the works since 2018. The game has been described as a combination of different gameplay styles, inspired by titles such as Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant and Smite. This information came from well-known insider Tyler McVicker, who described Deadlock’s gameplay as “fast-paced and interesting”, ideal for players who prefer an intense and action-packed gaming experience.
Early reactions suggest that it could offer an innovative and exciting gaming experience. Now we just have to wait for more information from Valve and hope to hear more about this promising title soon.
