Texas Secretary of State Ruth R. Hughs reminded eligible Texas voters that the registration deadline for the May 1 election is approaching. With two weeks to go, April 1, the Secretary issued a call to voters, community leaders, and elected officials to encourage their peers to check in and prepare to vote in the next election.
“Exercising your right to vote and having your voice heard is a fundamental part of our democracy,” Secretary Hughs said. “I encourage all eligible Texans who have not yet done so to register to vote by April 1 so they can be actively involved in shaping the future of Texas.”
The first step is to check the status of your registration on the website of the Texas Secretary of State in the section “I am registered?”.
If you have moved to a new address within the same county or have changed your name, you can update your information online.
Eligible Texans who are not yet registered to vote can complete and print a voter registration application here, or request an application to your county elections administrator. Once completed, eligible voters must submit the application to voter registrar your county of residence. Completed voter registration applications must be postmarked by April 1 to be accepted.
Voters with questions about how to cast their ballot in the upcoming May 2021 election can call 1-800-252-VOTE or visit VoteTexas.gov for more information.
