Due to the corona pandemic, students in Baden-Württemberg are given more time for exams. The government factions of the Greens and CDU announced on Sunday that a law should be discussed in the Stuttgart state parliament after the summer vacation, according to which students can extend deadlines for exams by three semesters. The draft is currently being drawn up.
Stuttgart – The state parliament has already extended the semester-bound examination deadlines to include the summer semester 2020 and the winter semester 2020/2021. The period will now be supplemented by the current summer semester and the winter semester 2021/22. “With the renewed extension, we recognize the difficult conditions students have had to cope with in the past year and a half,” declared the university politicians Alexander Salomon (Greens) and Albrecht Schütte (CDU). Both appealed to students to get vaccinated in good time before the start of the semester so that more face-to-face classes – in connection with online formats – are possible at colleges and universities.
The institutions receive 57 million euros for additional expenditure in order to offer students and young scientists a largely regular learning and research environment after three online semesters in a row. The first tranche of 29 million euros was anchored in the third supplementary budget. According to the figures, 28 million euros will follow in the regular budget in 2022. dpa
