[스포츠서울 | 원성윤 기자] The movie ‘Deadline’, based on the true story of a huge disaster that threatens the nation’s infrastructure in 2022, heralds the realistic disaster scene and heart-warming emotions, heralding the birth of a new disaster movie following ‘Tower‘ and ‘Pandora’.

‘Deadline’, a real-life disaster human drama featuring survival, truth, and a heated struggle ahead of a tightening deadline at the Pohang steel mill hit by a huge typhoon, is set to be released ahead of the release of Korea‘s all-time disaster classics such as ‘Tower’ and ‘Pandora’. It is expected to follow suit and is receiving a lot of attention.

The movie ‘Tower’ is the story of people risking their lives to survive a sudden fire in a 108-story skyscraper. It received great praise for depicting people trying to live in a tower surrounded by hot flames and people trying to save their lives, showing various human groups in a disaster situation.

In addition, with its touching themes such as family and sacrifice, it brought theaters to tears and was a box office success, attracting a total of 5.18 million viewers, making it a model Korean-style disaster film.

The movie ‘Pandora’ depicts the struggle to prevent the worst in the unprecedented disaster in Korea, following the largest earthquake in history and a nuclear power plant accident threatening the Korean Peninsula. Using the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident, which shocked everyone at the time, as a motif, it conveyed both the somewhat unfamiliar fear of radioactivity and realistic problems, raising awareness among many audiences.

In addition, director Park Jeong-woo, who opened a new chapter of disaster with ‘Yeongasiro’, directed the film, and trustworthy actors such as Kim Nam-gil and Kim Young-ae met to show the best synergy.

Lastly, the film ‘Deadline’, which will be released on the 6th, tells the story of people overcoming disaster against the background of the Pohang Steel Works, which suffered great damage from the super typhoon Hinnamno, which hit the Korean Peninsula in September 2022. Unlike the previous two works, it deals with actual events, and in order to more perfectly reproduce the disaster situation and background at the time, location filming was conducted directly at the national security facility Pohang Steel Works, adding to the magnificent sense of reality.

In addition, director Kwon Bong-geun, who is attracting attention for his delicate directing skills, and Jang Yoon-jeong, a writer for Korea’s representative current affairs program, took charge of the script and raised the level of perfection of the play by depicting a three-dimensional disaster situation. In addition, Korea’s leading actors, including Gong Seung-yeon, Park Ji-il, Jeong Seok-yong, Hong Seo-jun, Yoo Seung-mok, Jang Hyuk-jin, and Lee Jun-hyuk, will come together to convey warm emotions by reproducing the fierce struggle of steel workers facing a disaster situation.
