NPD presented data from the US market and in January, players spent $4.3 billion on games, down 5% from the same month last year. This is interesting information because the US industry has achieved a worse result in 12 months for the first time since September 2022.
The most-bought production of the month was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which has not given a chance to the competition for four months. The best new title turned out to be Dead Space Remake – EA’s game made a very good start and took second place in the ranking.
Fire Emblem Engage was beaten only by the aforementioned two games and two Electronic Arts sports games, and Forspoken debuted in seventh place. One Piece Odyssey (9) also made it into the TOP 10 best-selling games.
The Last of Us Part I also enjoyed great interest, which jumped from 36th to 11th place in the ranking, probably due to the premiere of the series “The Last of Us”.
The most-bought console was the PlayStation 5, which took first place in terms of unit sales and dollars earned. The Sony device won with the Nintendo Switch, which took second place in both rankings.
