Russell Lees has worked at the Ubisoft Montreal franchises for more than a decade
Russell Lees, the veteran writer best known for his work at Ubisoft, has died. He was best known for his work on the company’s sagas, including Assassin’s Creed itself, Watch Dogs, and Far Cry. It was Darby McDevitt, the narrative director of the Assassin’s Creed series, who shared his news of his death in a tweet in which other industry colleagues also mourned his loss.
“We lost a dear friend and a brilliant colleague this week. Writer and narrative designer Russell Lees has been a member of the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry families for more than a decade. Everyone who has worked with him can show his patience, generosity, passion and brilliant spirit”McDevitt wrote on his personal Twitter profile.
Navid Khavari, the narrative director of Far Cry 6, also shared a few words in memory of Russell Lees: “It was an absolute pleasure to work with him for a short time at AC Unity. Even working between two cities, we had a great time on the mysteries, and he was always such a kind, generous, and incredibly sharp-witted writer. I can’t believe he’s gone”He wrote on Twitter.

As you can read on Russell Lees ’official website, we’ve been able to enjoy some of his recent work recently, such as DLC for Wrath of the Druids for Assassin’s Creed by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. He has also written additional content for games such as Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Far Cry 5, and has also worked on Watch Dogs 2. Prior to Ubisoft Montreal, Lees worked at Pandemic Studios, where Warrior: Ten Hammers and in 1995 he wrote and directed the point and click horror adventure game The Dark Eye, which worked on Edgar Allen Poe.
