On Thursday, a dead person was found near the ski resort at Gålå in Sør-Fron municipality in the Inland.
The deceased has been sent to autopsy and identification at the Department of Forensic Medicine.
A man in his 70s from Sør-Fron was reported missing from the area on November 2 last year. The deceased must be identified before it can be determined whether there are missing persons who have now been found.
The relatives of the man in his 70s have been notified.
– The man was found by chance. It has previously been searched in the area, but it is a large and rather confusing mountain area in question, says police superintendent Brede Holdbrekken in the Inland police district to TV 2.
The police have carried out forensic investigations on the spot and are awaiting an autopsy report to determine the cause of death.
– There is nothing to indicate that anything criminal has happened here now, but we are investigating. It is expected that the result of the autopsy will be available over the weekend, Holdbrekken says.
