Dead man found in Vågen in Bergen – appears to be an accident

West PD informs Chirping that it was passersby who reported that a lifeless person had been found in Vågen. The message arrived at 10:15.

– We went to the scene after a short time and found an obviously dead person lying in the sea near the quay. We received assistance from the Bergen fire brigade in recovering the person on the ground, writes the Western Police District in a press release.

Police say it is a man in his fifties. Relatives have now been notified.

– The deceased will be autopsied and the police have opened a case, but at present the incident appears to have been an accident. There is no suspicion of anything criminal, write the police.
