Jakarta –
The police uncovered the case of a dead woman’s body decomposing in a boarding house in Tambora, West Jakarta. The perpetrator now has been arrested by the police.
“Yes, he was arrested today,” said West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Andri Kurniawan to reporters, Monday (26/2/2024).
Andri said the perpetrator was arrested in the Kapuk area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. However, he did not fully explain the chronology of the murder.
“He was arrested in Kapuk Village,” he added.
Victims Killed
The police have carried out a crime scene investigation (TKP) at the location where the body was found on Jalan Angke Barat RT 4 RW 1, Angke Village, Tambora District, West Jakarta. Police suspect the victim died because he was killed.
“Meanwhile it is leading to murder,” said Andri.
This suspicion was obtained because there were irregularities at the scene when the police carried out the crime scene investigation. One of them, the boarding house door is locked from the outside.
“Because looking at the results of the crime scene identification, there were irregularities that we saw, so we carried out a more in-depth investigation,” said Andri.
Beginning of the discovery of the body
The police initially received reports from residents who smells bad around the rented house. After checking, it turned out to be the body of a woman, namely Sumiyati.
“Inhabitant find it bad smell. “It is estimated that the condition of the body has begun to decompose for several days, in a boarding room,” said Tambora Police Chief Commissioner Donny Harvida when contacted by journalists, Monday (26/2).
The body was found on Sunday (25/2), around 17.00 WIB. The discovery of the body was revealed after residents suspected a strong smell coming from the boarding house.
