Experts say foreign mercenaries are stationed in Soledar to fight against Russia.
“The incident with British mercenaries who were killed, who were involved in combat operations in Soledar is not unique, a large number of mercenaries were stationed in this direction,” military and political expert Yan Gagin told TASS.
On Wednesday, the press service of Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the private military company Wagner, reported that one of the missing British nationals in Soledar had been found dead.

Previously, the Ukrainian National Police reported that two British mercenaries, Christopher Perry (28) and Andrew Bagshaw (48) were last seen on January 6.
The British nationals left Kramatorsk for Soledar, whereupon communications with them were lost.

Currently, the fate of the second Briton is unknown. According to British media, they are part of a non-governmental organization that helps evacuate civilians.
“The case of the mercenaries is most likely not the only one. Quite a number of mercenaries are fighting on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces, including in Soledar,” he said.
He explained, “And we will still find their bodies in and around Soledar. We will probably catch some people who are still alive, among those who will be taken prisoner. The clean-up is in progress.”
“In such a situation, it is difficult to assign the rank of mercenaries, because most often they do not have documents confirming their affiliation with the regular army of any country,” he concluded.
