A congressman from upstate New York reported that he and his family were threatened with a dead animal and a brick that contained the name of a relative. The objects were deposited at his home on Friday, according to the uniformed.
The brick and the animal were found in the home of Republican Rep. Tom Reed after 10:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Corning Police Department.
The local police officer said that it is investigating the case in collaboration with state police and federal agencies.
Neither Reed nor the police specified what type of animal he was threatened with, nor did they provide other details.
“The cowards used a dead animal and a brick with the name of a relative to try to intimidate us,” Reed said in a statement issued by his office. “We assure everyone that these threats only give us energy to hold our ground.”
Reed represents New York’s 23rd Congressional District, which covers a large swath of the state north of the Pennsylvania border.
She faces Democrat Tracy Mitrano in the November 3 election.
