There is still heavy fighting in various places in Ukraine. Several people were killed and injured in the shelling, local authorities report.

Shellings have been reported in the Eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk and surrounding towns in the region of the same name. Eight people have been killed in Russian shelling in the suburb of Toretsk, the Ukrainian governor of the region said. He also said four people were injured, including three children.

The governor says on Telegram that the Russian bombing hit a public transport stop where the victims were waiting. President Zelensky’s chief of staff speaks of a “new terrorist attack” by Russia.

Theater

Meanwhile, the center of the city of Donetsk, which has been in the hands of pro-Russian separatists since 2014, is said to have been shelled by Ukrainian artillery. At least five people were killed and another six injured, according to the Russians.

According to the authorities of the self-declared People’s Republic of Donetsk, the shelling took place near a theater where many local administrators had gathered for a memorial service at the time. Russian state news agency Ria Novosti reports that a child is among the dead.

Explosions in the South

Fighting continues in other locations in Ukraine as well. Explosions in Mykolaiv, in the south of the country, have killed at least four people and injured ten in the past 24 hours, according to Ukrainian authorities.

In addition, about 60 rockets are said to have been fired at Nikopol, which is located near the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. That plant, the largest in Europe, was taken by Russian troops in March.

According to Ukrainian authorities, about 50 homes were damaged in Nikopol’s shelling today. Many residents of the city, where more than 100,000 people live, also found themselves without electricity.
