At the same time, the culture of discussion is noticeably brutalized on several platforms in the comment columns and groups. Hatred, violence and exclusion dominate. There is apparently no longer a real culture of discussion in digital Germany.

Because there are simply topics that seem to magically attract hatred and deconstructive criticism. The actual content no longer matters. Therefore, a new Facebook function for social media managers may be of interest in individual cases.

For some time now, Facebook has been rolling out the option of deactivating Facebook comments. The process is manual and does not work in Business Manager.

It should also be clear that this function is only used in an emergency. In the case of a memorial post to a deceased, for example, deactivating the comments could make sense to stop hatred of the deceased and the bereaved. However, this is rather the exception.
