Just before the second night of Operation Night Watch by the Antwerp police, a suspected shooting was reported in the Palinckstraat in Deurne. Police confirm that there are indications of a shooting.
At ATV, mayor Bart De Wever responded to the opening weekend of Operation Night Watch. “Anyone who sniffs a line of coke, it all seems to be quite normal among young people, is directly responsible for the violence in our streets,” De Wever was strict with the drug users.
Later on, De Wever made a plea on the VTM news for the establishment of a Belgian anti-drug police, by analogy with the American Drugs Enforcement Administration (DEA). “I hope the next government will do something about that.” Preformers Egbert Lachaert and Conner Rousseau have already made it clear that additional investment in security and justice will be one of the priorities of the Vivaldi government. The big deal, which De Wever concluded with PS chairman Paul Magnette, also involved an anti-drug police.
Two men on a moped
