2024 is shaping up to be really hot for cars. In particular, a mega sports car was announced which had been one of the most anticipated for several years.
The new year has just begun but in the world of cars there is already a great excitement to see the new cars of 2024. Manufacturers are moving quickly to change their price lists, continuing the electric revolution that has been underway for several years. Many historic cars will say goodbye to the market (see the old Ypsilon but also the Ford Fiesta), while others will remain in production but for a short time. But there is also great movement for luxury and sports brands.
The details of the sports car ready for its debut (De Tomaso) – flopgear.it
Among the most anticipated cars are the heir to the Lamborghini Huracanwhich says goodbye to the naturally aspirated V10 to move on to the twin-turbo V8, but also the new Ferrari hypercar which we have seen in recent months disguised moving through the streets of northern Italy.
In reality though in 2024, a mega sports car that we have already seen some time ago and which seemed like just a simple “dream” will finally make its debut on the scene. And which now becomes a pleasant reality, bringing a mythical name back into vogue.
We see ourselves again as a dream mega sports car
We saw it in all its splendor at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed, one of the most important events for lovers of two and four wheels globally, which takes place every year in Great Britain. It really won over with its sinuous lines and reference to a legendary car from the past. Then all traces of her were lost, but here she is finally among us. Let’s talk about the De Tomaso P72.
This is the spiritual heir of one of the most beautiful machines produced in the past by the Modena company, the P70, and which will finally start to be sold, albeit in a decidedly limited edition. This is the return in style of De Tomaso, born in 1959 by the Italian-Argentine driver Alejandro de Tomaso and which has changed its name several times, however always remaining in the hands of its founder, who died at the age of 75 in 2003. After various legal vicissitudes, however, since 2014 it has been held by Ideal Team Venturesalready owner of Apollo Automobile. Who now wants to relaunch the brand properly.

This mega sports car, however, already stands out from the others, because it will not be electric or electrified, but strictly with a combustion engine. In particular it will mount a Supercharged V8 of Ford origin tuned by Roush Performance, therefore an American rebel soul just like its ancestor P70. It also mounts a 6-speed manual gearbox developed internally by De Tomaso.
The lines are sinuous and recall the racing cars of the sixties and seventies, while the mechanics share something with its sister Apollo Intensa Emozione. Many elements recall the past, from the lights to the soft and prominent fenders on the front wheels, but even inside there is something retro that captivates the eye. In fact, the instrumentation is analogue, while the materials are of high quality, with carbon and leather on many details. The De Tomaso P72 mega sports car will be assembled in a new factory to be built in Germany, on the outskirts of the Nurburgring in just 72 units at a cost of Approximately 750,000 euros.
