De Silvestri saves Bologna at the last minute, 1-1 with Genoa – Il Tempo

BOLOGNA (ITALPRESS) – In the advance of the nineteenth matchday of Serie A, Bologna and Genoa drew 1-1 after an intense match with a heart-pounding finale. At the Dall’Ara, Gudmundsson’s goal in the first half and De Silvestri’s goal in full injury time decided the match. Bologna survived despite a colorless performance for long stretches: a solid and heroic Genoa saw the three points slip away only towards the end. There are several new formations in Bologna, such as the ownership of Urbanski and Fabbian and Ravaglia deployed between the posts in place of Skorupski. On the other hand, Genoa is in an emergency, following a flu syndrome that has decimated the team and staff: among others, De Winter, Bani, Thorsby, Puscas are absent. The first half is very intense and full of duels in the middle of the pitch: Bologna tries to play the game, while Genoa waits high in the non-possession phase. Immediately in the 7th minute Orsolini almost took the lead, thanks to a powerful left-footed shot into the corner, neutralized by a super intervention from Martinez. However, the visitors took the lead at Dall’Ara as they capitalized on the free kick earned by Messias, knocked down by Posch in the 20th minute. The goal was scored by the usual Albert Gudmundsson who took the free kick from a tight angle, surprising Ravaglia, who was covered by his teammates, but also not very reactive. Bologna tries to react, but is unable to build dangerous scoring drives: a dull first half for Zirkzee, captain for the occasion. In the second half Thiago Motta changes the face of Bologna, making a triple substitution and inserting Kristiansen, Saelemaekers and Aebischer. Bologna struggled to build scoring actions against a Genoa holed up in their own area and attentive in the defensive phase. Martinez was again the protagonist in the 73rd minute, author of another great save on Aebischer’s shot from the edge of the area. Bologna isn’t even lucky and sees the possible 1-1 goal canceled out in the 75th minute: from a free kick by Saelemaekers, Calafiori scores with a header, but is pinched offside by the linesman. Calafiori again in full recovery engages Martinez with a powerful right-footed shot from 25 meters, aimed under the top corner. Bologna’s final assault, however, paid off and the substitute De Silvestri scored in the 95th minute following a corner. Genoa didn’t have it and, on the last free kick of the match, Gudmundsson hit the crossbar in the 98th minute. After an emotional finale, both teams ended the first half of the season with a good point.
