Here we are, the great bowling season is coming to an end. More important events, then it’s time to celebrate. Marco Giunio De Sanctis, president of the Fib in his third mandate, explains: “The season of the Italian Bowls Federation continues more and more intensely and then ends on 20 and 21 December, respectively with the prestigious MB FIB Award, now in its 43rd edition, the first of the Federal Council, of the territorial National Council and, above all, of another great event: the Raffa National Super Cup, scheduled at the Federal Technical Center in Rome, which will pit the winner of the championship against of Serie A (Fashion Service Sant’Angelo Montegrillo ed.) and the winner of the Italian Cup which will take place in mid-December in Brescia”.
“The MB FIB Award and the Super Cup will follow other competitions. After the awarding of the championships of Raffa in Campobasso, Volo in Chieri and Petanque in Belluno and the numerous national events held so far, including the spectacular Master of Champions, male and female, in Cosenza, this last weekend will take place the Italian Unified Absolute Championships (Raffa, Volo and Petanque) in San Giovanni in Persiceto, with the finals on Sunday live on Rai Sport”.
But let’s get back to talking about the MB FIB Award. “Rome, our eternal city, will once again be the protagonist of the “MB FIB Award 2024”, a true Bowls Oscar, the highest recognition for all those who, in the various categories and at different levels, have distinguished themselves in this sporting discipline and which, in some way, contributed to increasing the prestige of the FIB. The event will be presented by the well-known Rai Sport journalist Simona Rolandi. The evening will be characterized by a series of particularly evocative performances. Like the performances of Kaspar Capparoni, the Italian singer Luisa Corna, the pianist Andrea Bacchetti, the composer Agostino Penna and the performance of Domenico Fortunato. Before the prestigious award, scheduled for December 20th at the CONI Hall of Honor, we will have the opportunity to attend the private Papal Audience for our Delegation, at 9 am, followed by a guided tour inside St. Peter’s Basilica through the Door of Prayer.”
We are on the home stretch for the redevelopment of the FIB Federal Technical Centre. “The Rome Capital Services Conference for the final authorization ended positively” states the number one of the Fib. “We are still waiting, and we hope not to waste any more time, on the resolution for the building permit, a conditio sine qua non so that FIB and Sport e Salute can prepare the two planned tenders relating to the two functional lots: one public, of 2,150,000 euros, aimed at the construction of the new headquarters of the federal offices in Torrino, which will follow an ad hoc procedure relating to the financing of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers; one of a more private nature, relating to the works under the responsibility of the Italian Bocce Federation for the remaining part of the redevelopment works of the Federal Technical Center with the 15 meter swimming pool, the two padel courts, energy efficiency, the fencing of the entire sports structure and the renovation of the offices and two rooms of the guesthouse”.
A 2025 full of surprises awaits. “We are in the home stretch – added De Sanctis – for the purchase of an Ott platform and the related App which will offer high quality viewing of multiple live and on-demand events every year, accessible through all types of devices. It is an in-house platform that the FIB and the entire federal council strongly wanted in order to capitalize on their experience in the television field. This, with the aim of reaching an even wider audience and accompanying its users in the evolution of the way in which everyone uses content today, as well as to increase the passion of Federation members and, above all, to obtain new economic resources through the related advertising rights. For the next sports season, viewing will be free for affiliates and members, also in light of the reduced activity in 2025 (nine months ed.) and then restarting from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026″.
And also in 2025 there will be the organization of the Petanque World Championships at the Circus Maximus in Rome. “We are waiting to receive confirmation from the Municipality of Rome for the assignment on 19-22 September. The world championship event will give a big breath to the bowling movement at an international level. I am very happy to have received direct funding from the Government because it is a huge event of international importance. We needed a suitable contribution for a great World Cup because it is the most widespread specialty in the world and will take place in a prestigious location in the capital”.
