De Sanctis’ plan: “Here are the bowls of the future”

Marco Giunio De Sanctis has run to remain at the helm of the Fib, Federazione Italiana Bocce, for another four years, for the third consecutive term. “I am running again precisely to complete the programmatic plan started in Verona, in March 2017, together with a national team renewed by 50%, 5 out of 10 members of the current Federal Council who, for the first time in history, will not be the expression of a specialty, but of all the specialties and federal themes. Another extraordinary novelty will be represented, in the event of electoral success, by the appointment of a female federal vice president”. The next elections are now just around the corner. “The vote will be on September 28, 2024 in Chianciano Terme which, through the action of our regional representative, has proposed a very advantageous logistical offer. In recent years we have done good things, especially in terms of disability, training, image and communication; therefore, we must continue on this path” adds DeSanctis, for the first time, after two terms, the only candidate for the highest federal office.

Bocce has returned to being an important reality in the Italian sports panorama: a great effort by the Federation, a constant commitment by the president and the Federal Council. Now we look to the present but also to the future: “The FIB will have the obligation to protect youth, women’s and Paralympic activities to the maximum, but without the contribution of sports clubs, from which we hope for the widest turnover of technical and managerial staff, the search for competent promotional figures, great results will not be achieved, in terms of growth in the number of members, especially young people, and the appeal of our sport compared to others”. “A goal of great significance – continues the number one of the FIB – will be the possible inclusion of Bocce in the program of the European Youth Games, scheduled for Istanbul in 2027. In fact, together with the CONI and the president of the CBI, Mutlu Turkmen, we are concerting a common political strategy to achieve this ambitious goal, a prelude to the access of the sport of bocce to the Olympic Games, which would determine the real change of pace and consideration of our sporting discipline. And then there is the organization in 2025 of the Petanque World Championships at the Circus Maximus, a world competition scheduled for September 18 to 21, which will give a great boost to the international bocce movement”. The president’s program for the next four years is very complete and concerns issues of significant interest, including “the Ott platform, and related App, referring to the live streaming of the most important federal events, purchased by the Fib to offer the viewing of multiple live and on-demand events every year, accessible through all types of devices. It is an in-house platform that the Fib and the entire federal council strongly want in order to capitalize on their experience in the television field. This, with the aim of reaching an even wider audience and accompanying their users in the evolution of the way in which everyone today uses content, as well as to increase the passion of the Federation’s members and, above all, to obtain new economic resources through the related advertising rights. The alternative search for economic resources is today, in light of the new institutional political sports framework, more necessary than ever. The redevelopment of the Federal Technical Center in Rome, in which to locate the central and territorial headquarters, will be crucial for the relaunch of the Fib in terms of image and marketing, as the House of Italian Bowls will naturally allow the spectrum of sports opportunities to be broadened and the attention of sponsors and the media to be more attracted”.
