In 2018, star chef Gert De Mangeleer and his business partner and matre-sommelier Joachim Boudens announced the closure of their three-star restaurant Hertog Jan in Zedelgem. The duo wanted to create space for new ideas and business.
In the meantime, the Hertog Jan Restaurant Group opened LESS Eatery in Bruges, which, with chef Ruige Vermeire, earned its first star after more than six months. Their restaurant Bar Bulot, which focuses on classic cuisine with chef Pieter Lefevere and host Maxime Depreitere, saw the light of day in Bruges in 2019. In 2021 Bar Bulot was voted “Brasserie of the Year” by Gault&Millau. There will also be a new Bar Bulot branch in Antwerp.
