Arnaud De Lie has won the Famenne Ardenne Classic for the second year in a row. The leader of Lotto-Dstny was supreme in a group sprint. It is a boost for De Lie, after his spring was completely ruined due to falls and Lyme disease.
Last year he won the Famenne Ardenne Classic with one leg, this time he needed both: Arnaud De Lie (Lotto-Dstny) also achieved his first victory of the season in his first race after a disappointing spring. In the sprint in Marche-en-Famenne, De Lie stayed ahead of Axel Zingle (Cofidis) and teammate Maxim Van Gils by a large margin.
After a disappointing start to the spring, De Lie was diagnosed with Lyme disease. A dismal ninetieth place in Gent-Wevelgem gave little hope of improvement, so the Lotto leader canceled his further spring plans. After the Famenne Ardenne Classic, two races now follow in France: the Grand Prix du Morbihan and the Tro-Bro Léon. This summer, De Lie wants to perform in the Tour de France.
