The Netherlands still has one three-star restaurant left. De Librije in Zwolle is the only one to have once again received the highest rating from Michelin. De Librije has had three Michelin stars since 2004. The inspectors call the owners Jonnie and Thérèse Boer “the standard bearers” of culinary Netherlands.
Restaurant Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen, which has been at the top for many years, will receive two stars this year. The restaurant started again from scratch after a takeover and a renovation. The new owners Jeroen and Sanne Achtien “brought Inter Scaldes back to the top of Dutch gastronomy in a short time,” says Michelin. Jeroen Achtien left Broadcasting Zeeland hinted that he took into account ‘only’ one star.
The Michelin stars were awarded around noon at a ceremony in Maastricht. Ten restaurants have received their first star. Last year, seventeen restaurants were awarded a star for the first time.

Michelin inspectors rate restaurants according to five criteria:
- Quality of ingredients
- Mastery of flavor and cooking techniques
- The personality of the kitchen as expressed on the plate
- Harmony of flavors
- Consistency between inspector visits
The atmosphere, tableware or interior of a restaurant do not play a role in the assessment.
The stars were announced at the BBB Maastricht catering trade fair. A young chef and service staff were also spotlighted during the ceremony.
Lendl Mijnhijmer from restaurant Showw in Amsterdam won the Michelin Sommelier Award for his wine recommendations and combinations with dishes. Immediately afterwards he was allowed to announce that his own restaurant would also receive a star.
