De Librije and Inter Scaldes retain three Michelin stars | Culinary

The restaurants De Librije in Zwolle and Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen in Zeeland retain their three Michelin stars. The Netherlands will not be getting a new three-star restaurant this year, it became clear during an online ceremony by Michelin in an empty DeLaMar Theater in Amsterdam.

Eight Dutch restaurants have been awarded a green star for sustainable gastronomy for the first time this year. In addition to De Librije, they went to Bolenius and De Kas in Amsterdam, Lokaal in Doetinchem, De Nieuwe Winkel in Nijmegen, Restaurant One in Roermond, Aan Sjuuteänjd in Schinnen and Het Seminar in Zenderen.

On Saturday it was accidentally revealed that ten restaurants have at least received one star. Due to a technical malfunction, they were already in the Michelin app. Chef Hans van Wolde, for example, heard from Brut172 in Reijmerstok (Limburg) that he received two stars in one fell swoop. Van Wolde, who also had two stars with his former restaurant Beluga, started his new business in March last year. Restaurant 212 Amsterdam was also surprised with a second star. Newcomers, with one star, are De Nieuwe Winkel in Nijmegen, Heemstede Castle in Houten, Zeezout in Rotterdam, Daalder en Wils in Amsterdam, Pieters in Bergambacht, Meliefste in Wolphaartsdijk (Zeeland) and Tilia (formerly De Zwaan) in Etten-Leur.

Edgaras Razminas of restaurant De Lindehof in Nuenen was also named best sommelier of the year. The Service Award went to Cindy Borger of De Groene Lantaarn in Zuidwolde.

Gwendal Poullennec, Michelin Guide international director, said the chefs have continued to surprise inspectors despite the tough corona year. “We know it’s tough for everyone, especially the chefs and their team.” He believes that this makes it “more important than ever” to bring the community of chefs together. “We hope that restaurants can reopen soon and that this selection will encourage people to return to restaurants as soon as possible.”

The Michelin stars are internationally regarded as the most important award in the luxury restaurant sector.
