George Kooymans recently announced that he would stop performing because he suffers from ALS. De Groot also announced on his website today not to go on stage anymore. The three men, who work together under the name Vreemd Kostgangers, were to do a farewell tour in 2022, but they had to cancel this tour due to Kooymans’ illness.

The three had already started on a new album last year and want to finish it. “We have recorded demos, but still have to record a lot and play Boudewijn’s songs,” says Vrienten. Due to his illness it is unclear to what extent Kooymans can do his guitar parts as he wants, but according to Vrienten he has already recorded everything for the demo. “And believe me, George’s demos can be recorded straight away. They have been played and sung so well, he has a professional studio just like me, in fact he’s almost finished. ”

The three would prefer to get back together, but for the time being they work via video connections and Vrienten edits the music in his home studio. As long as they haven’t received all three two vaccines yet, they do it this way.
