De Gea has returned to England, but can’t play yet

Manchester

David De Gea back again to England. Unfortunately, Manchester United has not been able to lower the main goalkeeper due to the quarantine regulations.

De Gea has missed MU’s last three matches in all competitions. The reason is, the 30-year-old player must return to his hometown to Madrid to accompany his girlfriend Edurne, who gave birth to their first child.

Nearly two weeks in the country of Matador, De Gea then returned to Manchester this week. However, due to the COVID-19 protocol in the UK that required isolation, De Gea could not meet his colleagues.

He can only train with his teammates if he tests negative after five days of quarantine. Unlike most migrants who undergo a 10-day quarantine, De Gea is classified as an athlete and thus gets a dispensation.

De Gea’s return is certainly a breath of fresh air for MU, who need his presence between the sticks. Especially after seeing Dean Henderson’s blunder which resulted in the loss of victory after being matched by AC Milan 1-1 in the Europa League.

MU was unbeatable for long David De Gea absent and that means Henderson is performing well. However, De Gea has the experience to bring MU through the pressure for the rest of this season.

Regarding the possibility of De Gea playing against West Ham United Old Trafford, Monday (15/3/2021) early morning WIB, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the manager could not confirm it.

“He has returned to Manchester,” Solskjaer was quoted as saying ESPN.

“He still has to be self-isolated. I think he can be active again on Sundays. I don’t know for sure when he will be able to play again, but it looks like it’s not Monday or Tuesday,” he continued.

“According to the rules, he has to stay at home. He hasn’t trained with us either. It’s different if you travel and compete. He hasn’t practiced at all since coming back,” concluded Solskjaer.
