Manchester –
Manchester City got bad news ahead of the counter duel Liverpool from FA Cup semifinal. Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker in danger of being absent.
De Bruyne and Walker played as starters when City faced Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals in midweek.
City qualified with a 1-0 aggregate advantage into the semifinals, having drawn 0-0 for 90 minutes. However, City’s qualification came at a price with the injuries of De Bruyne and Walker.
Both had to struggle to face the hard game of Atletico throughout the match. De Bruyne was seen compressing his ankle with ice after being pulled off. Walker also had problems with his ankle while trying to clear the ball.
Initially the injury was not thought to be serious. However, in its development, De Bruyne and Walker had to miss a training session at home to Milwall, Friday (15/4/2022) local time, to prepare for the FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool tonight.
City did go straight to London shortly after returning from the city of Madrid. They do not want to be drained of their physical condition if they have to stay longer in the city of Manchester.
De Bruyne apparently suffered a cut to his leg while Walker sprained his ankle. Both are doubtful to appear because of his current condition.
“They didn’t train today. We’ll see tomorrow, but it looks like it’s still possible to play after what happened last Wednesday,” said the manager Manchester City Pep Guardiola from Independent.
The duel with Liverpool is the second in a row in a week after the 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium.
