D’Bar, Blue Grand Café, T’ Vat and Che’s Bar Tipas receive a corona fine of SRD 10,000

The cluster team, which will be operational from December 2020, has recently imposed fines on companies that were found open during the partial and total lockdown. In view of the adjusted measures relating to the catering sector, inspection activities will also be tightened up there.

In the coming period, the cluster team will carry out its inspection activities in the catering sector. This means that attention will be paid to compliance with the protocols that relate in particular to bars and restaurants in Suriname.

Every company in the hospitality sector must have clear signals of arrival and departure so that visitors do not walk past each other and physical contact is minimized. The “seating plan” is also of eminent importance. This indicates that a distance of 1.5 meters per chair must be used (maximum 4 chairs) at a table. The removal of the mouth and nose covering is only permitted when consuming food and drink. It is requested that no new visitors be allowed to enter the property one hour before the partial lockdown starts, in order to avoid violating the lockdown protocols.

The cluster inspection of 24 November 2021 once again showed that a number of license holders of companies in the catering sector do not comply with the announced measures. During this period it is prohibited to have open the following commercial premises or spaces of any kind that are open to the public, such as nightclubs, dance halls, discotheques, brothels and bars.

In the evening of November 24, the cluster COVID-19 Team imposed a number of administrative fines on companies that did not comply with the measures announced by the government. Some of those ventures include: Eet Café D’Bar, Blue Grand Café, T’ Vat, and Che’s Bar Tipas. Each has had an administrative fine of SRD 10,000.

Parties, including house parties, are prohibited. In the event of repeated violations, the government will take stricter action, such as revoking the permit. The Cluster COVID-19 Team is led by the Labor Inspectorate Directorate belonging to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Youth Affairs.
