There are no objections against Nikola Minchev from any political force, not even from the opposition, even though he was ousted as Speaker of the National Assembly. He is a consensus figure who can unite. If a government is not formed now, we will have at least three more elections by the end of next year, said Ivan Dimitrov from “Democratic Bulgaria” (DB) in an interview with NovaNews.
He declared his readiness for the DB to receive the mandate to form a government. “We are adamant that before he decides to whom to give the mandate, he should do another round of consultations so that he can be sure that the one to whom he will give it will make an effort. We will start negotiations with everyone without any were conditions. We will respond to an invitation for negotiations from BSP, if they get the third mandate, the same applies to ITN”, he commented.
According to him, the problems in the coalition came from poor communication between the leaders. “It is extremely difficult for our voters to accept that we are in the same government with the BSP. We believe that the biggest political force should nominate a prime minister, and we should conduct negotiations and reach a compromise. Negotiations for a new government with GERB and DPS are impossible.” stressed Dimitrov. And he added that there are risks that Bulgaria will become an unregulated presidential republic through caretaker governments.
