More than 31,000 square meters in Hörsching β Optimization according to the latest standards
Vienna/Linz (OTS) – In order to remain a strong and reliable partner for its customers in the future, DB Schenker is optimizing its location in Linz Hörsching and expanding the cross-docking area by around 2,400 square meters to 8,400 square meters. The completely renovated location, which is now more than 31,000 square meters in size, was officially handed over to DB Schenker by the construction company Strabag on May 23, 2022. The total investment volume is 10 million euros.
“Due to the high dynamics of the economic region of Upper Austria and its central location, our terminal in Linz Hörsching is an important location for DB Schenker in Austria and throughout Europe. The optimization of the location and the enlargement of the cross docking area will enable us to respond to this dynamic market and the individual requirements of our customers even faster and more flexibly in the future,” says Erik Leiss, Managing Director Austria.

In order to create optimal working conditions for our warehouse employees even in winter, a modern heating system was implemented in the hall. Around eight million euros were invested in the expansion of the cross-docking area, the construction of 71 new loadhouses and the renovation of the existing hall floor, the loading yard and the asphalt surfaces including the access road.
DB Schenker invested another two million euros in optimizing the existing terminal. The roof and the water and drainage system were renewed according to the latest energy efficiency standards. Furthermore, a new charging infrastructure for the use of forklifts was created and 50 additional WAB (swap bodies or swap bodies) and 12 semitrailer parking spaces were built.
