DAZN launches the first exclusive women’s football package

DAZN’s commitment to women’s football in recent years has made it possible to give greater visibility to this sport and contribute to its enormous growth. Since 2021 it has been openly offering the Champions League and this season it acquired the rights to the new Liga F. Now it has launched the first exclusive women’s football package called DAZN Victoria. It will include Finetwork Liga F, the UEFA Women’s Champions League, highlights from the Barclay’s FA Women’s Superleague and the Vitality Women’s FA Cup. All for €9.99 a month.

It is the first time in history that an exclusive plan has been implemented for this sport, a milestone that confirms the great interest that women’s football is arousing in Spain. The Champions League final between Barcelona and Lyon last May in Turin attracted more than 3.6 million live viewers worldwide, 56% more than the previous edition. Spain, with over 1.6 million views, was the country where the match was viewed the most.

The plan will go into effect on January 16, at which time it will no longer be possible to enjoy the F League in the open, although an open duel could be offered punctually. Yes, Champions League matches will continue to be offered for free through their YouTube channel. In 2021, DAZN took over the rights to Europe’s top competition – the financial details of the deal are unknown – and teamed up with YouTube to offer all matches in the open for the first two seasons. Starting next year and running through 2025, only 19 of the 61 games will be open.

After a season of disputes over audiovisual rights that left most of the matches aired, DAZN and Mediapro reached an agreement with Liga F in September to broadcast all matches in the competition. DAZN has promised to pay 35 million euros over the next five years and Mediapro has kept the match open, a single confrontation that is broadcast on Gol every day.

“With this new plan, we evolve our offer and strengthen our commitment to support women’s sport,” explains the general manager of DAZN Spain, Bosco Aranguren. “It’s a specific subscription plan for women’s football that will drive the growth of the sport, create new benchmarks and drive positive and lasting change in society,” he says.
