Jeff Ross, who was director of Days Gone e left Bend Studio at the end of 2020, commented on the sales of his game.
According to him, just as Ghost of Tsushima (who also sold this), Days Gone reached 8 million sales in 1 year and 7 months (when Ross was at Bend Studio). Since then it has probably sold even more and another 1 million on Steam.
The problem, according to Ross, is that Sony’s management made it look like it was too little and sales had been disappointing. That is, according to him, Sony is celebrating the 8 million Ghost of Tsushima, but at the same time had Days Gone with similar success and he didn’t see that same celebration.
At the time I left Sony, Days Gone had been out for a year and a half (and a month), and sold over 8 million copies. It’s since gone on to sell more, and then a million+ on Steam. Local studio management always made us feel like it was a big disappointment. #daysgone #PlayStation https://t.co/KMZr2pGe9r
