Days Gone fans from yesterday in negative words commented on the actions of the PlayStation management, which gave up the development of Days Gone 2 and decided to support the creators of Ghost of Tsushima. Jeff Ross unleashed a storm yesterday by announcing that while Days Gone achieved higher sales than Ghost of Tsushima, PlayStation management has always let his team know that the title was “a big disappointment”. The situation is funny, however, because it turns out that the director did not have accurate sales figures for the game.
The creator of Days Gone confirmed in a recent interview that his source of the “number of copies sold” was the now defunct Gamestat site that actually tracked trophy data.
However, two facts turned out to be a problem: Gamestat has always not provided accurate, but approximate data, and in addition, players could resell copies or simply borrow Days Gone – the website added such a person to the number of users.
Gamestat did not really show game sales, but (inaccurate) cup data, so there were also copies collected by PS Plus as a result. Even if Days Gone has achieved success, then we don’t know how many copies were actually sold – although we can be sure that Sony would be happy to boast of a large result of the adventure.
During the discussion, Jeff Ross mentioned that in fact … PlayStation bosses didn’t abandon the Days Gone 2 project as it might not even have been introduced to them. There are many indications that the studio never showed the game concept to the head of PlayStation Studios (Hermen Hulst).
The situation is so surprising that fans literally fought for Days Gone 2 and collected thousands of signatures… When the most important people from PlayStation did not know about the game.
Jeff Ross confirmed that the aforementioned “local management” were not really PlayStation bosses, but one of PlayStation Studios’ regional managers – he was probably negative about the project.
