As we approach the end of the winter season to give way to spring and then to daylight saving time, this weekend the time change will take place throughout Chile, scheduled for Saturday, September 7.
According to the government’s provisions, and in accordance with Decree 224, signed by President Gabriel Boric at the beginning of his term, next Saturday the 7th the clocks must be moved forward 60 minutes, when they will read 23:59 throughout Chile, except for the aforementioned regions.
It should be remembered that the last change made to the time throughout the country was in April, when clocks had to be set back one hour once the winter season began.
The calendar established by decree 224 establishes that daylight saving time will be extended until the first weekend of April 2025, when the country will return to the standard UTC-4 time zone with clocks set back one hour.
In the insular area of Chile, that is, in Rapa Nui and Salas y Gómez Island, the time change will take place at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, to 11:00 p.m.
Once daylight saving time has ended in Chile, which, as indicated in the Decree, is modified to 24 hours on the first Saturday of April 2025, moving back one hour (60 minutes) throughout the national territory, except in the Magallanes region.
