In Worms there was a strike in the public sector all day on Tuesday. According to the trade union ver.di, at least 400 employees took part.
The warning strike meant for citizens that in Worms, for example, garbage was not picked up and there were longer waiting times in the clinic. In addition, employees in numerous day-care centers in Worms laid down their work.
According to ver.di, employees of the city administration, the zoo and the Sparkasse Rheinhessen also took part in the warning strike. In the morning there was a rally on Lutherplatz. There, the strikers once again made their demands public.
That’s what the union demands
In the current collective bargaining round, ver.di and the civil servants’ association dbb are demanding 10.5 percent more income, but at least 500 euros more for the approximately 2.5 million employees in the public sector at federal and local level. The term of the new collective agreement is to be twelve months. The second round of collective bargaining is scheduled for February 22nd and 23rd in Potsdam.
