On the night of January 23, Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya (WTA 93) will play the 1/4 finals of the Australian Open 2024.
The Ukrainian will compete with Linda Noskova (Czech Republic, WTA 50) for reaching the semi-finals. The meeting will take place on the 1st run at Rod Laver Arena. The start time of the match is 03:00 Kyiv time.

Dayana is having the best tournament of her career. In qualifying for the major, the Ukrainian did not show a confident game; many did not understand how it was possible to almost lose to the 565th racket in the world, Maya Johnt. But in the end, Yastremskaya still made it into the main draw of the Australian Open, where she shocked absolutely everyone.
Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova was defeated in the first round. In the second – Varvara Gracheva, in the third – the billionaire’s daughter Emma Navarro, who is ranked 26th in the WTA rankings and who had 10 wins and 1 loss in 2024.
In the 1/8 finals, Yastremskaya defeated former first racket and two-time winner of the Australian Open, last year’s semi-finalist Victoria Azarenka. In general, the Ukrainian’s draw was not an easy one, and she certainly deserved to reach the quarterfinals.
As for the last match with Azarenka, 38 winners and 37 forwards speak for themselves. Dayana still played aggressively, flatly, went on the attack and pressed with physicality. Victoria made a mistake and couldn’t cope with the pressure, although initially it was believed that it would be difficult with her style against an experienced Belarusian with Yastremskaya’s quality game.
Now we have to play against Noskova, who beat Iga Swiatek in approximately the same way, plus she consistently served perfectly. On paper, Linda should be easier to attack, but at the same time more difficult to defend against.
It’s unlikely that Dayana will need to come up with something new. The main thing is not to lose control over the course of the meeting. There will be a quick match with a minimum number of long rallies and, presumably, this should benefit Yastremskaya only if she does not lose absolutely every quick point…

Linda Noskova
Noskova is praised by absolutely everyone, but mostly solely because of her victory over Iga. That pressure and state of passion could have been enough for the match with Svitolina, but Elina withdrew and Linda simply rested for an extra day. With Dayana, things may not go the same way as they could with Elina.
Let’s not forget about the strange loss of a set to world number 206 Kessler in the second round with a score of 1:6. Noskova is not very experienced yet, she is only 19 years old. A victory over Swiatek is strong, but how often does it happen: after a super match with the main favorite, a loss to a weaker opponent follows. Plus, I think that Noskova’s courage could be relevant in a game with Svitolina, but with Dayana…

In the coming years, we will definitely hear her name more than once; she will reach the last stages of major WTA and Grand Slam tournaments, but in the match against prime Dayana, we just want to believe that she will be eliminated.
