Jakarta –
Congestion that happened in TB Simatupang, South Jakarta, is getting worse. Residents complain that their time is running out because they are stuck in traffic jams.
Recently, complaints from netizens have been appearing on social media, accompanied by photos of severe traffic jams on the streets of the capital city. However, from these uploads, the one most frequently mentioned by netizens is Jalan TB Simatupang-Fatmawati.
Various conjectures arose regarding the congestion, from the narrowing of the lanes to the fact that many companies have implemented work from office (WFO).
Road user named Zaidan (23) shared his experience. Zaidan said that every Monday-Friday he is often stuck in traffic from Cilandak towards Fatmawati. He suspected the traffic jam was due to the narrowing of the lane.
“It’s very, very bad, the possibility of traffic jams occurring because the road has narrowed into 2 lanes,” Zaidan told detikcomThursday (9/2/2023).
According to him, the roads in Fatmawati are inadequate. From 4 lanes to 2 lanes only. He felt that Jakarta’s roads were becoming more ‘crowded’ after the government stopped the regulation for imposing restrictions on community activities (PPKM).
“Since PPKM was stopped and the office has been WFO, the volume of vehicles has increased,” said Zaidan.
“Usually 5-10 minutes. But this morning it was more or less 15 minutes (stuck in traffic),” he continued.
Almost 1 Hour Stuck in Traffic
Suchie (29) experienced similar complaints. Every weekday he passes through Lentang Agung in the direction of Lebak Bulus.
At TB Simatupang, Suchie could be stuck for almost an hour. Suchie felt that TB Simatupang had experienced severe traffic jams one year ago.
“It’s really bad, usually if there’s no traffic jam from Simatupang to Lebak Bulus it’s only about 10 minutes now it can be 45 minutes,” Suchie said.
He suspects that the cause of the traffic jam is because school and work hours coincide in the morning.
“Hopefully, there will be more related agencies in charge of managing traffic during peak hours so they can reduce congestion,” he said.
Another road user, Darul (26), said he was often stuck in traffic jams on Jl Raya Gunung Balok Lebak Bulus-Fatmawati. Darul suspected that the traffic jam was caused by the large number of schools on Jl Raya Gunung Balok. Especially now that face-to-face learning has been implemented in schools.
“Every weekday there must be traffic jams,” complained Darul.
“It can take 10 minutes from the red light to the end of Jl Gunung Balong,” he said.
