65,393 new positive corona tests were registered between Saturday and Sunday morning, reports the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). That is a new daily record. The old record was set on Friday, when there were 57,492. On Saturday, there were 46,198 positive corona tests after correction.
Due to the rapid increase in the number of positive tests, computer systems cannot keep up with the reports, so that a large part has not yet been processed. The backlog increased to about 48,000 over the last six days on Sunday. That is slightly more than Saturday, when the backlog was about 46,000. Those infections have already been confirmed, but could not yet be registered.
In the past seven days, RIVM registered 321,070 positive tests. On average, there were 45,867 positive tests per day in the past seven days. With the backlog added, those numbers would be even higher.
In Amsterdam, 4700 people were told that they had tested positive, in The Hague there were 4443. Many infections were also found in Rotterdam (2443), Zaanstad (1178) and Enschede (1128).
In the past 24 hours, RIVM received a message that one person has died as a result of a corona infection. That is not to say that this person has also died in the past 24 hours. Sometimes deaths are not registered until later.
