With the aim of expanding Mexican traditions, the ecological garden “Botanical garden of the desert”from Phoenix, Arizonahas developed a unique investment experience to participate in the celebrations for the Day of deathhaving the mythical natural enclosure, specialized in the protection and display of desert plants, as a stage to gather all the public who wish to participate in the days 29 and 30 October.
The ecological garden reported that to launch this initiative, More than 100 Mexicans and Americans attended to recreate the Day of the Dead celebration in the aforementioned facilities, allocate an investment of 100 thousand dollars for its realization, that is two million pesos, approximately, thus marking a traditional Mexican festival for the enjoyment of the Latin community, local and of course for Mexicans, visualizing the union 60 thousand people in the business.
The program led by the cultural manager Ulrike Figueroawho conceived and curated each activity, also involved various artists, artisans and chefs for experiences that the public can live, ranging from an interactive altar of the dead, where visitors can print photos of their loved ones to leave them in him, according to the Mexican tradition.
There will also be a sensory experience called “The flavors of the day of the dead” (The flavors of the day of the dead), which under the motto “Flowers we were and flowers we will become” was designed by the artist Victoria Molina and chef Ricardo Aguirre. This installation is inspired by the experience of entering a pantheon on the nights of the Day of the Dead.
Artist Victoria Molina has designed a participatory dining experience that will have flowers as a driving force, elements that connect to the food we eat. The experience features traditional foods brought into a contemporary context, edible flowers, and the excitement of visiting the pantheon and waiting for the deceased on the night of the Day of the Dead, as is done in Mexico.
Diners can try “Coliflorpasuchil”generated by artificial intelligence, this voice will remind us of cempasúchil flowers and decorate the table with its orange color, having as starred dish with onion soup in bread of the dead, tamales and typical Mexican sweets.
Among other educational and cultural activities, a musical program of Paolo Osoriothe October 28in which he will show a repertoire of traditional Mexican music entitled “Cancionero Mexicano” which he will include La Llorona and La Martinana.
The organizers of this celebration stressed that the program was fully supported and funded by the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, while the Mexican Consulate in Phoenix was instrumental in making the link between Mexico and the United States.
