Sachsenwaldlauf with running routes for everyone, shooting sports and a colorful supporting program lure people to the Schützenallee on Sports Day.
Schwarzenbek. People sit too much, that has one Study of the German health insurance companies and the sports association. Current data shows that Germans sit an average of 9.2 hours on workdays, an increase of 1.7 hours since 2015. The 18 to 29 year olds are particularly affected, as they sit an average of more than ten hours a day. The nationwide “day of sports“ on September 3 under the motto “See sports, experience sports, try sports!” is also in Schwarzenbek a way to for more movement to advertise.
Day of sports in Schwarzenbek with Sachsenwald run and shooting sports offers
“We want to show people that keeping fit is fun. A running event with an event character is just the right thing for this,” says Dirk Habenicht from the organization team of the 42nd Sachsenwaldlauf. The shooting athletes, who have their premises right next to the sports field on Schützenallee and offer their own event with an open day and summer biathlon, aim in the same direction.

The members of the running group from the TSV athletics department have put together a particularly attractive offer. “We currently have 300 entries for the Sachsenwaldlauf. That’s a very high number. Last year we only had 220 reports at this time,” says Dirk Habenicht. Experience has shown that most reports come at very short notice. “We are expecting at least 500 runners again. We don’t know exactly why so many decide so late. We suspect that this has something to do with the weather,” says the running club leader. Since experience has shown that there are many spectators to cheer on, another thousand people will probably come to the event site on Schützenallee.
Supporting program with DJ and Stadtjugendring
There is an extensive supporting program there – including the Stadtjugendring with face painting, a bouncy castle, demonstrations by other departments of the TSV and company presentations. But there is also a lot on offer for the runners. At the edge of the running track at the start and finish, DJ Paul Parker puts on music. He otherwise accompanies the games of the footballers “Schwarzenbek Wolves”. Zumba trainer Michaela Buck is also part of the party and does a warm-up with the athletes before the start.
There are a few innovations at the popular fun run on Sunday, September 3rd. “The level of training of the people who come to us varies greatly. That’s why we have the right offer for everyone in the running club and it’s the same with the Sachsenwaldlauf,” says Habenicht. The distances range from 400 meters to the half marathon (21.0975 kilometers). The distance of 3.6 kilometers is new for beginners who do not dare to do the 5.6 kilometers previously offered as a medium distance. “New routes mean a lot of logistical effort. But we were very happy to do so and are happy to be able to offer a course as a taster run this year,” says Habenicht.

Teams can also run in costume
Since it is a fun run, there will also be a separate team classification for the first time. After last year’s great success, four finishers on each route are rated and awarded as a team. “Another award is for the most creative outfit, as there were really great costumes last year. We are very excited to see what the teams come up with this year,” said Habenicht. At the run in late summer 2022, a team came dressed as Smurfs.
The routes lead through the Sachsenwald forest, which is why the medals that each participant receives are made of wood. This symbolizes the forest and sustainability. The medals are designed and made by members of the organizing team, said TSV Managing Director Florian Leibold.
Sports club has a large inflow from new development areas
“The Sachsenwaldlauf is of course event-heavy, but it draws attention to the club and the offers,” says Dirk Habenicht. “Thanks to the large new development areas, we are already very popular – especially in the children’s area. But the run is great for the image, and for one or the other maybe a motivation to do sports,” adds Florian Leibold. The TSV now has almost 3,000 members and claims to be the largest sports club in the district.

The Schützengilde with 90 members is far from that. But there, too, six young new members have been found in the course of the year. The shooting athletes are hoping for further influx on September 3rd at the open day. If you haven’t experienced enough action after the Sachsenwald run, you can come to the shooting athletes on the neighboring property. From 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., anyone interested is cordially invited to drop by the Schwarzenbeker Schützengilde and see, experience and, above all, try out the sport for themselves. Visitors can shoot with air pistol, air rifle, small bore rifle and laser dot biathlon rifle.
The most unerring visitor is a year free in the rifle club
“Anyone who wants to can take part in a free shooting competition for everyone,” says shooting master Siegfried Koslowski. You can win free memberships in the guild. The most accurate participant shoots for a year free of charge, the runner-up gets a six-month membership and the third is three months free of charge. For this, the participants have to fire ten shots with the air pistol, ten shots with the air rifle, ten shots with the small caliber rifle and 15 shots with the biathlon rifle. All results are added together. A positive side effect: Each participant can try out different disciplines and test which sport suits him best.
Visitors can also try out the mobile laser biathlon facility. It is not necessary to participate in the shooting competition. If you want, you can also just watch and strengthen yourself at the buffet with coffee and cake.
