Day after death, the company offers Geervlieters carbon monoxide detectors; residents baffled | Instagram

On Thursday, residents received a folder from the Rozenburg company MonoXsafe, which offered to test carbon monoxide detectors and install new ones if necessary.

Lizzy Cramer from Geervliet thinks it is a ‘sick action’. “I just can’t believe it. And then they only hand out flyers in and around the street where those two people lived. Did that company really think: this topic is topical now, can we earn something from it? ”

Cramer’s post on Facebook is widely acclaimed. The company says in a written response that it was ‘not aware of the time when the flyers were issued’. “It was an unfortunate moment and we immediately stopped when we heard about the news.”

The police are still investigating the deaths of Monica van Hulst (49) and her husband Anton (52). They were found dead on board a boat in Bolsward on Wednesday morning. Two people from Brielle with whom they explored Friesland had become unwell. The police assume carbon monoxide poisoning, but have not yet found any evidence.

Many residents in Geervliet have their flags at half mast. The couple’s two children (20 and 17) have been cared for by family.
