The eighth day of the World Cup in Riga brought expected results. Sweden and Canada celebrated their second victories, Latvia had to admit defeat to Norway in a close game.
Liam Kirk showed against Sweden again and scored his fifth tournament goal. For the British, it was a 1: 4 defeat against Sweden in the end. Denmark celebrated an enormously important 5-2 victory against Belarus in the fight for the quarter-finals. Thanks to their third success in this year’s championships, the Danes are fourth in Group A with eight points.
Canada could also get the second victory of the tournament against Kazakhstan. The maple leaves gambled away a 2-0 lead, but ended up winning 4-2 from the ice. Canada Captain Adam Henrique holds six scorer points after five games. The Canadians are two points short of hosts Latvia and thus fourth place in Group B. Latvia suffered a major defeat against Norway. Against the Vikings, after 2: 3 deficit, they fought their way into extra time and later into the penalty shoot-out, Djurgardens striker Michael Haga made the decision in the skills competition.
