• Czechs in action •
Karolina Muchova (81) – Amanda Anisimova (28) | Court Suzanne-Lenglen (11:00 CEST)
The last Czech hope in the singles of this year’s French Open Karolina Muchova will compete for the collection of participations in the second week of all grand slam tournaments Amandou Anisimovovou. He will face the semifinalist of the year 2018 for the first time. “I didn’t even train with her, so I don’t know her. I’ll look at her matches. I think it will be a fast concrete game,” she said the day before the match.

Last year, despite health problems, Muchová reached the 19th place in the ranking. However, due to a persistent abdominal muscle injury, the Czech Republic ended the season after the US Open, did not return to the event until the end of March in Miami, and this year it played only three tournaments. In Florida she got to the third round, which she did not make, in Madrid she narrowly lost in the second round to the running Belinda Bencicova and in Rome in the opening round she was not enough for Petra Martičová. In Paris, she initially dealt with the domestic wild card Carole Monnet and then sensationally eliminated the four seed and last year’s semifinalist Maria Sakkari. She played a set in all seven duels this year.

Anisimova had an excellent start to the season, after a triumph at the general in Melbourne and the eighth finals of the Australian Open, she struggled for two months, but rose again on clay. She went to the quarterfinals at all three events (Charleston SF, Madrid and Rome), beat Aryna Sabalenková twice and found a recipe for Victoria Azarenková, Belinda Bencicová and Danielle Collins. At the French Open, she lost former world number one Naomi Osaka and qualifier Donna Vekicova without losing the set.

Anisimova is a favorite to proceed deservedly. He plays well on clay this year and has a stable form except for a two-month outage. Muchová’s advantage is that she can play more relaxed again and only surprise. In addition, Anisimova may have a dismissal day, so the Czech Republic is definitely not without a chance.

• The path to defending the title •
Novak Djokovic (1st) – Aljaž Bedene (195) | Court Philippe-Chatrier (13:30 SELČ)

Novak Djokovic at the French Open, he continues to defend last year’s triumph and attacks to equal Rafael Nadal’s record in the number of grand slam trophies. Another hurdle of the world number one will be Aljaž Bedenewhich will aim for the premier grand slam round. All three previous fights including the one from Paris in 2016, the Serb won without losing the set.

Djokovic is experiencing a very mentally demanding season. His visa was revoked in Australia and he was unable to defend his Australian Open title due to subsequent deportation. He started the event at the end of February in Dubai, where he was not sensationally enough for Jiří Veselý in the quarterfinals. During the clay spring, he gradually improved in terms of games and physics. In Monte Carlo, he finished right next to Alejandro Davidovich, but played the final in Belgrade, played a great marathon battle with Carlos Alcaraz in the Masters semifinals in Madrid, and won his 38th Masters trophy in Rome without losing the set. He began demolishing Yoshihit Nishioka in Paris and did not allow his ex-coach, Alex Molcan’s, to settle.

Bedene will not play the complete season for the third year in a row, so it is no surprise that the former 43rd player in the world currently ranks 195th in the rankings. He had to end last season in July and returned to the courts in March. Before traveling to Paris, he completed only five matches and only reached Roland Garros’ first winning streak when he defeated Christopher O’Connell and Pablo Cuevas in four sets.

Djokovic is clearly a better player, he continues in Paris with very solid performances from the previous two events and should celebrate another easy step.

• Hit of the day •
Sebastian Korda (30.) – Carlos Alcaraz (6.) | Court Philippe-Chatrier (20:45 SELČ)
They will take care of today’s hit Sebastian Korda and one of the biggest favorites for the title Carlos Alcaraz. Korda is the only Spanish teenager to be defeated this year, in addition to the only player outside the Top 10 who managed to beat him this year. Mutual balance is even if we count last year’s finals at the Under-21 Championships.

Korda has participated in ten tournaments this year and played the only semifinal. However, he was able to achieve other great results in at least two cases, as he had Cameron Norrie “on the shovel” in the quarterfinals in Delray Beach and Rafael Nadal in the second round in Indian Wells. He arrived in Paris with a not dazzling 14-10 and 6-5 balance on clay. In the meantime, however, he is doing well in the French capital, losing both John Millman and Richard Gasquet without losing the set.

Alcaraz, which was not even in the Top 100 this year last year, has a phenomenal balance of 30-3 this year (two out of three defeats were awarded to him by Top 10 players) and four trophies. He won three of the four laurels on clay, rejoiced in Rio de Janeiro in February and found no winner in Barcelona and the Masters in Madrid. In the home metropolis, he was the first in history to defeat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in one clay tournament. He then took a short break and returned to action in Paris, where he began demolishing Juan Ignacio Lónder. In the next round, however, he eliminated the matchmate of compatriot Albert Ramos.

Both actors profess an aggressive style and like to go for winning strokes. So the one who makes fewer unforced mistakes and keeps the high level for a long time wins. Alcaraz, who was undefeated in the previous round, had very little in the previous round, but overcoming a critical situation can significantly strengthen him. He is a clear favorite against Kord, the son of the famous former Czech tennis player also has problems with ending matches in the role of an outsider.
