This Monday, several dozen Dax hospital workers, under the leadership of the inter-union (CGT, FO, CFDT), welcomed the users of the establishment with a petition to ask the hospital management and the Regional Health Agency to abandon the recovery plan launched last March. A savings plan to deal with a historic deficit of nearly 7 million euros in 2023, which could reach, according to forecasts, nearly 11 million euros in 2024.
Faced with this deficit, the Regional Health Agency asked the management of the establishment to act. Last March, the latter presented a recovery plan which notably provides for the elimination of 40 full-time equivalent positions at the hospital.

The unions explain that these job cuts affect all departments: 30 positions for nurses, nursing assistants, hospital service agents (ASH) and administrative staff, but also 10 positions for doctors or midwives. Bed closures are also planned.

The Landes socialist elected officials are taking a stand
Fears for the Dax hospital in the face of this savings plan are also relayed by Landes elected officials. In this letter, the elected officials quote the hospital director regarding the beds that should be closed with this plan: 35 beds according to them, including 10 in short-stay geriatric care, 14 in rehabilitation care, 7 in medicine with a cardiology and pulmonology orientation, and 4 in orthopedic surgery.

The Dax hospital inter-union has planned a new action in front of the establishment this Thursday. On September 26, the socialist parliamentarians and the department will be received by the hospital director. As for the letter sent Monday evening by the Landes socialist parliamentarians and the president of the department, it had not received a response from the ARS this Tuesday morning at the time of writing.
