The prestigious junior race Aubel-Thimister-Stavelot started on Friday for the 58th time. Previous winners include Remco Evenepoel, David Gaudu and Cian Uijtdebroeks. The first stage led around Aubel and was 111 kilometres long. The cyclists had four mountain climbs.

In addition, he rode in the colors of Cannibal – Victorious U19 Development Team Jan Michal Jackowiakand in a JEGG-DJR Academy T-shirt Patrick Goszczurny.
Goszczurny took part in one of the first actions. He found himself in a very strong breakaway, and next to him were Paul Fietzke (Team GRENKE – Auto Eder) and Felix Ørn-Kristoff (AVIA – Rudyco Cycling Team). However, the peloton dealt with the breakaway quite quickly.
27 kilometres from the finish line, the talented Édouard Claisse (Crabbé-Dstny U19) decided to make a very bold attack. The 16-year-old Belgian built up an advantage of almost a minute and had a great chance of winning the stage. The large group was merciless and caught up with him 20 kilometres later.
The victory was decided by a sprint from the peloton. Senna Remijn (ACROG-Tormans) was the fastest, but his victory was decided only by a photo finish. Matijs Van Strijthem (Van Moer Logistics Cycling Team) had to settle for second place, and Xander Scheldeman (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale U19 Team) was third.
Dawid Lewandowski finished just outside the TOP 10.
