Bremen (dpa / lni) – Dawid Kownacki from Werder Bremen wants to benefit from the departure of national player Niclas Füllkrug to Borussia Dortmund. The chance that last season’s top scorer got from his league competitor is now his chance again, the Polish attacker said at a media round on Tuesday. With the transfer of the Colombian Rafael Borré, however, Kownacki has found a new competitor.
“Niclas is a really good striker, he was an important person in our team,” said the 26-year-old. “It’s not easy for me, the boys played a really good season,” he said about the former duo of Füllkrug and Marvin Ducksch. “I think we can play well together,” he said of Ducksch, with whom he had previously played in Düsseldorf. “This combination” could fit well according to the attacker. “I’m a different striker than Marvin,” he clarified.
In the furious 4-0 win over Mainz 05 on Saturday, Kownacki started for Bremen for the first time in the league and played 76 minutes.
