It is Kjell Arne Pedersen (64), Nils Johan Bårdsen (72) and Ruth Wathne (68) – all from Askøy – who are missing in Kvam. On Monday, it became clear that the police have gone over to search for the presumed dead.

Ruth Wathne is the little sister of former TV 2 profile Davy Wathne (71).

Wednesday night, Wathne thanks everyone who has contributed to the search.

– Even though we are broken, shocked, despairing and really have enough of ourselves: Let there be no doubt that the efforts of the police, fire brigade, relief corps, volunteers and other agencies and people are noticed and make a strong and touching impression on all of us. Thank you !, he writes.

– You were absolutely fantastic

On Wednesday, Tomas Wathne Bårdsen (35) wrote a word of remembrance on Facebook. He is the son of Nils Johan Bårdsen and Ruth Wathne.

– To mom, dad and Leo. Rest in peace, you were absolutely wonderful and the best parents and the best dog you could wish for. I will miss you, writes Wathne Bårdsen in a touching memoir about the parents on Facebook on Wednesday.

Dagbladet has been in contact with Wathne Bårdsen, who has given permission for Dagbladet to reproduce what he has written.

Pedersen, Bårdsen and Wathne were reported missing on Sunday night, after they tried to cross the Tokagjelselva in a small boat just opposite a large waterfall. Also a mixed breed dog named Leo is missing.

New assessment Thursday

Intensive search on Wednesday did not result in the discovery of the missing. The search conditions are demanding, and the police will make a new assessment on Thursday morning.

– We hope to find them. We have theories about where the missing can be, and are implementing measures in relevant places to find them, said operations manager Svein Laupsa during a press conference on Wednesday night.

With a view to tomorrow, we will make an assessment tomorrow early about what measures we will take tomorrow, Laupsa said.

The search crews have used good weather conditions on Wednesday for intensive searches with extra resources. More storms are expected in the future.

– We work as long as we think it makes sense to keep on finding them, Laupsa said.

Found clothes

The task leader describes the search area as risky to work in. Frode Nygård in the local Red Cross said that the exploration conditions have been extremely demanding.

– It is the most extreme assignment we have had, when it comes to terrain and risk. There is no doubt about that.

The police state that finds have been made of what are probably clothes belonging to the missing in the Tokagjelselva in Kvam.

– Rescue crews have gone down and located the objects and taken them up again. These are objects that there is reason to believe belong to the missing. It is primarily clothes and other things, said operations manager Laupsa.

Clothes have also been found in the past, as well as oars and a boat. Other objects have also been found, but Laupsa would not go into these further.
