National Basketball Associations (NBA) Los Angeles Superstar Anthony Davis will terminate the current contract with the team to sign a new one, informs The Athletic media reviewer Shams Sharan.
The 27-year-old Davis had the opportunity to extend his contract for one season or accept a player’s option and become a free agent this season. He chose the second option, however, not to consider options in the free agent market, but to sign a new contract with the Lakers.
Sharan says Davis has the following options:
- 1 + 1 or two-year contract with a player option for 68.1 million dollars
- 2 + 1 or three-year contract with a player option for 106.1 million dollars
- 3 + 1 or four-year contract with a player option for 146.7 million dollars
This means that Davis will represent the Lakers team in the worst case for another season, but in the best case for three seasons. It should be recalled that Leberon James may become an unrestricted free agent in 2021 or 2022. Davis ‘decision is likely to depend to a large extent on James’ plans.
Davis and his agent, Richard Paul, will meet with the Lakers in the coming weeks to discuss the details of the deal.
