Davis Cup: Sinner and the 2024 team

The 22 year old from Carrara returned this year almost to his maximum levels after being no. 15 in June 2023. The highlight of his season were the semi-final at Wimbledon (lost to Djokovic) and the bronze medal won at the Paris Olympics, beating the Canadian Auger-Aliassime in the final in three sets. He didn’t have such luck in the three ATP finals he played, all of which he lost, at Queen’s (against Paul), Umago (against Cerundolo) and Chengdu (against Shang). In his career he has won 2 singles tournaments, the last one in October 2022, and the 2023 Davis Cup. In the cup he has an overall balance of 3 wins and 6 defeats (2-4 in singles and 1-2 in doubles).

The 28-year-old Roman is climbing back up after a long series of injuries that caused him to fall to 154th place (in March). It was no. 6 in January 2022, the result above all of the memorable 2021 Wimbledon final and the semi-final reached at the 2022 Australian Open. This year he won 3 250 titles (Marrakech, Gstaad and Kitzbuhel), losing (to Draper) the Stuttgart final. Andrea Vavassori, the doubles specialist

The 29 year old from Turin, at most no. 128 in singles (reached in June 2023), is one doubles specialist where, last October, it reached no. 6. This year has experienced a magical season. Paired with Bolelli he reached the finals at the Australian Open and Roland Garros and, together with Sara Errani, won the mixed title at the US Open. Again together with Bolelli this year he won 3 titles, in Buenos Aires, Halle and Beijing. In total he won 6 tournaments in his career. In Davis, where he has never played singles, he has a record of 1 win and 2 losses in doubles.
